Acute Residential Rehabilitation

This program operates in acute care hospital settings. The patient population includes residents requiring 24-hour nursing, residents in the early stages of the post-acute phase of recovery, and residents requiring evaluation for appropriate neurobehavioral treatment. Residents may be dependent in all activities of daily living. Treatment along the post-acute continuum of care may extend from short-term (30-180 days) treatment, to long-term care (greater than 180 days) for persons requiring care for ongoing medical/neurobehavioral interventions.

The goals of the program are to deliver effective and efficient treatment for improving neuropsychiatric status, behavioral function, and for promoting participation in daily meaningful productive activities. Meeting these goals allows residents to safely transfer home or to other less restrictive environments. For persons requiring long-term care, the goals include maintenance of the highest level of independent functioning achieved, prevention of recidivism to acute care, and promotion of quality of life through participation in meaningful daily and leisure activities.
